Q. I have a domain I need to transfer to my Premium account here - it won't work where it is now. What do I do?

A. Easy! Go here and start the transfer procedings. Note that the email address on record for the domain MUST be valid for the transfer to be authorized by you.

Q. I really REALLY want my own domain, can I get it here? Is it hugely expensive??

A. We can help you there - Register your domain and in a couple days you'll be live! Domains take at least 48 hours during business days to be registered because of DNS and domain registration times.

Q. My credit card was declined, but I know for sure it's got plenty of credit for this little charge. Why is that?

A. Call your bank, there may be a problem there - the bank the credit card is listed with is the only one who can decline your credit.

Q. I just signed up tonight, why does my account still have popups?

A. Popups are removed within 15 minutes of the account being setup with Premium Service. If you completed the setup procedure your account is definitely set up. Please CLEAR YOUR CACHE AND HISTORY FILES; you may have old files stuck in your cache (Internet Explorer especially is bad for hanging on to old news). If you have further problems, you're always welcome to contact us.

Q. I just signed up, and my subdomain doesn't work!

A. Like the popup removal, subdomains are set up within 15 minutes of the account being set up with Premium Service. Try your new URL around that time frame: http://yourmembername.crosswinds.net (NOTE: There is no longer a "www" in your URL when using the subdomain) Both the basic and Premium URLs will work after the account has been set up.

Q. I just can't log in - it keeps bouncing me!

A. The most likely cause of this is that our website requires browser "Cookies" to be enabled for all Member areas of our website. If you disable cookies in your browser, you will not be able to login.

Q. I emailed the Help Desk and still haven't had a response!

A. Our Help Desk is swamped, and sometimes it takes a day or two to get back to you. Premium Members have their own help desk! Please send your questions or concerns to premiumcw@crosswinds.net for quicker service (although keep in mind we get busy there too). Please bear with us and help us out by including all possible information except your password which we don't need like membername, error logs, detailed problem.

Q. My website will have music and/or video files - anything special I have to do before uploading these files?

A. YES! Because of the overwhelming abuse of illegal music (etc) trading, we do ask that you contact us before uploading anything over sample length to your account. Please identify yourself as a Premium Member when you email legal@crosswinds.net. We'll send you the information you need.

Q. I've got a lot of Anime (DBZ, Pokemon, sailormoon, etc.) to put up on my site - I can do that right, because I found it on another site or made it another way?

A. There is a lot of misinformation about Anime on the internet. The long and short of it is that the programs you watch on TV and see in bits and pieces and sometimes in its entirety online is copyrighted to the companies who produced these programs. You may NOT under ANY circumstances upload full videos, fansubs, music, or any other copyrighted media to your website. The MAXIMUM length of any Anime or other copyrighted media is 45 seconds TOTAL. Regardless of what your friends have told you, it is 100% illegal to infringe on the copyrights of these companies.

Q. I have some, er... questionable content for my site. Since I'm paying for it, I can put anything I want up, right?

A. Not even our Premium members can break the law, so no, sorry. We do not allow warez, pornography, hacking, roms, emus, or anything else that would violate the law or our terms of service. If you are wondering about something, contact premiumcw@crosswinds.net before uploading it. We want to keep you happy, but not at the expense of someone else or if its against the law.

Q. ARGH!! I can't access FTP! Why NOT???

A. As soon as you're all set up you can access FTP. 99% of the problem recently is because the member was using "Passive" transfer mode (PASV). If you uncheck that box, you will find FTP works perfectly for you. The address is ftp.crosswinds.net, your membername in lower case only, your password, port 21.

Q. May I resell space in my account?

A. Nope, you are fully responsible for your account, and should not share your password. We prohibit resale of our services.

Q. My FTP/subdomain no longer works!

A. You are always notified of the first bank decline of your rebill. If your rebill is declined 3 (three) times in a row (generally in a 10 - 14 day period), the credit company automatically expires your account, and thereby expires your Premium service. This is not irreversible! Contact us and we'll be happy to work with you to get you back online
